On the first day of Autumn

7:15 am- Phone call from T-Bird on his way to work telling Pete the surf is peeling, wind is offshore and it's on its way to high tide at the Cowrie Hole.
7:16 am- Pete is stoked and starts planning a morning of nasal exploration.
7:25 am- Phone call from work..."Pete we need you to teach today, are you available?"

...several seconds elapse as Pete tries to decide what to do....

7:26 am- "Ohhh well I guess I can come in for today, see you at 8:30".

Pete thinks to himself, 'shit the first day the surf has been ripping in ages and I get called in!"

3:30pm- Pete finishes work and heads for the Beach Cottage.
3:40pm- Surf is crap so Pete takes some photo's of the approaching storm.
3:50pm- Storm smooths the surf off again and Pete goes surfing... "Woohoo"

Tommy and Elliot visit the Cowrie Hole

Joe tastefully edited and kindly donated this nice little clip of T-Bird and Elliot getting a few slides on Sunday arvo. Only wish I was there too :( Oh well hopefully plenty more where that came from in the coming months. Enjoy!

Hot as Hades

It's been an extremely warm start to February at the Beach Cottage. Warm westerly winds have kept the surf small and clean, perfect for the logs. Saturday morning started slowly suffering from some early morning slackness really leaving alot to the imagination. T-Brid and I punched the 6a.m wake up just to beat the crowds only to find the surf a little on the ordinary side and trapped between tides. It was a nice time of the day to be out and about though. A lone fisherman making the most of the calm seas...

After a couple of patient hours reading longboard mags and shopping we returned to find the waves peeling at the Cowrie Hole! The crowds weren't even that bad, apart from the sneaky grom we nick named the 'ninja' for his finely honed wave snaking ability, and Asian complexion.

The warm weather has also worked wonders on the garden. The latest pick from the garden...
